We are delighted to finally announce the release date for the Patrol’s fifth studio album, ‘A Hundred Million Suns’, as well as details of the first track to be taken from the LP.
The new album will be released on October 27th 2008 in the UK and October 28th in the US, the release will be preceded by the stunning new single ‘Take Back The City’ released in the UK on October 13th.
As previously reported the album was recorded through Summer 2008 in Hansa Studios in Berlin and Grouse Lodge deep in the Irish countryside with producer Garret ‘Jacknife’ Lee.
Speaking of the new album, Gary told SP.com "I'm so proud of this record. Everybody played out of their skin. Garret (Jacknife Lee) continued his progression from maverick genius to one of the best producers in the world. Musically, lyrically and sonically the best record we've made."
For forthcoming information on the album, as well as details of the worldwide first play of ‘Take Back The City’, keep an eye on SP.com or sign up to the Members Area here for the latest updates.

the title of the fifth album
Hello everyone
Well, in this world of instant coffee, news, messaging and everything else it was bound to happen.
In an interview with the Belfast Telegraph we let slip the working title of the album then said not to print it until we had finalised it with each other (and put it on this very site). Those words were not heeded and they printed it anyway.
We’re sorry you didn’t hear it from us first but the album is indeed called ‘a hundred million suns’.
We will endeavour to make you guys the first to hear about everything else. It’s becoming increasingly hard but we’ll do our best.
Lots of apologetic love to you all. Gary.x

achtung baby! hero lodger transformed into low idiot!
The Patrol have decamped the recording of the new album to Berlin, leaving the rolling hills of Ireland that have been their home for the last seven weeks.
The band are currently in the German city and since arriving have all felt a new shift in the sessions, as described by Gary in his latest blog entry. Teasing us with the announcement that he will soon be posting up details on the album as well as track names, the Snow Patrol front man went on to list the latest set of CD’s that have been occupying the bands ears over the last few weeks, including stunning albums from Fleet Foxes, Wolf parade and Sigur Ros.

THE GARDEN OF EDEN
SP are back in their seventh ‘On Tour’ ident. This time they’re quite literally in the Garden of Eden, playing a one off gig at Bodelva’s Eden Project in Cornwall.
Set to the melodic “You could be happy” and fan favourite "How To be Dead", the video shows the gigs stunning backdrop, as well as featuring the Cornish rantings of SP bassist Paul Wilson.
